Bible Study on Gospel of John: John 2.23-25
- 1A. Read John 2.23-25. Think about this..why is the heart so important physically? What happens to our heart when we do not maintain it like we should?
- What kind of faith do the people of this passage have compared to the faith found in Hebrews 11.1?
- What is the difference between living faith and dead faith? (James 2.17-19; Matt. 13.20-22; Matt. 16.24-26; Matt. 25.46; Matt. 25.21; Matt. 7.23; Romans 10.8-9
- Looking back at he verses in this section, 12-25. There is a process of salvation. What is it?
B. Proverbs 23.7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. Think about our spiritual heart? Why is it so important?
C. Take a moment and evaluate your heart. How is it? Is your spiritual heart in shape or are you having some problems with it? What are those problems (sins)?
2A. Read Mark 7.21. What comes out of an unregenerate heart?
B. Read Romans 1:21. Why were the hearts of the people found in these verses darkened?
C. Read Romans 2.5. What happens when we refuse to repent of the sins that we have committed?
3A. Read Romans 6.17. Where does obedience originate?
B. Read Psalm 51.17. What type of heart does God desire? What do you think it means to have a broken contrite heart?
C. Read Romans 6.17; Psalm 119.11, 112, 161; Psalm 84.2; Nehemiah 9.8; Psalm 27.8; Proverbs 14.33; Matt. 12.35. Write down a brief summary of how these verses relate to the heart. What are some of the characteristics found in the heart?
4A. Read Genesis 3. What did Adam an Eve do when they sinned? Do you do the same thing? How do we try to hid or cover up or sins? How effective is it?
B. Read Psalm 44.21 and Jeremiah 20.12? Can we ever hide from God?
C. Read Psalm 51.10. Why not go ahead and repent of any sins that you may have in your life and have God create a new heart in you?
5A. Read John 2.23-25 again. Why did these people believe in the name of Jesus? Do you think these are genuine believers?
B. What does it take to be a true believer in Christ?

23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing.
24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people
25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.
